Overview
Roger J. Buffington graduated from the University of Southern California Law School in 1997. Before that, he obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, and is also a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California (inactive status). He utilized his MBA/CPA in his capacity as an officer of several major California and U.S. corporations. Mr. Buffington has been selected to the Super Lawyers list yearly from 2021-2025. Mr. Buffington is an experienced commercial, real estate, employment, and trust and estate trial lawyer, and has successfully tried high-dollar cases in State and Federal court, as well as in many arbitration forums. In 2017 Mr. Buffington successfully defended a case involving corporate stock ownership valued at up to $100 million in a four week jury trial in Los Angeles Superior Court. In that case, the Firm's client prevailed on all counts and the Plaintiff took nothing. Mr. Buffington is also skilled at the use of mediation as a litigation tool to solve clients' problems in a cost-effective manner. Mr. Buffington brings his strong financial and business expertise to bear in all of the Firm's business, investment fraud, trust and estate, and real estate cases, ensuring that the Firm's clients receive aggressive and thorough representation. Mr. Buffington has frequently been retained at the recommendation of other attorneys to act as lead litigation counsel in their cases. Numerous corporations, as well as two major universities, have repeatedly retained Mr. Buffington and Buffington Law Firm to serve as outside litigation counsel. Mr. Buffington is a former Captain in the United States Army, and was a Distinguished Military Graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, from where he also obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree. Recent achievements include prevailing at trial in numerous trust litigation cases, obtaining a multi-million dollar verdict in a business fraud dispute, successfully defending corporate directors in a corporate control and breach of contract dispute, as well as reaching confidential settlements in a series of trust litigation, real estate litigation, and investment fraud cases. In 2012, in a one-week trial in a trust dispute, Mr. Buffington recovered a multi-million dollar estate for his client, as well as all legal fees and costs for the clients. It is Mr. Buffington's goal to provide cost effective legal help to each client, beginning with a free consultation.
