When she was not in class or studying, she externed at the nation's largest pro bono firm, Public Counsel, with the Children's Rights Project. She also clerked for the Disability Rights Legal Center during this time.

⢠Scott Moot Court Honors Board, (2015-2016), Earned a "Top 10 Brief" Award
To this day, Monique continues to use her free time to better her community. She is a member of the National Lawyers Guild of Los Angeles and regularly volunteers at its legal clinics in Skid Row and Venice. In addition, she is a board member of the Latina Lawyers Bar Association, an advisory board member for the Elder Law and Disability Rights Center, a member of the American Association for Justice's Leaders Forum, and part of the Consumer Attorneys of California.
