Oakland Family Law Firm
Overview
I attended law school at the University of San Francisco on a faculty merit scholarship graduating in May, 2001 and became a licensed attorney in November, 2001.During law school, I focused on becoming a litigator through coursework, including an intensive advocacy program, as well as interning and working at two San Francisco law firms. I assisted the attorneys in a variety of types of legal matters, including in a murder trial and a death penalty appellate case.
Immediately after becoming a licensed attorney I began representing clients in court. From 2001 to 2004, I represented clients in criminal, personal injury, immigration, family law and bankruptcy cases.
In 2004, I moved to an Oakland law firm to focus solely on family law matters taking over the firm's entire family law case load. I continued focusing on family law cases when I moved to an Alameda law firm in 2009.
Prior to law school, I had a successful 15 year career in sales and marketing, including a position as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a company in New York. My sales/marketing experience included making hundreds of presentations and negotiating multi-million dollar contracts.
My experience making presentations and in business negotiations directly benefits my family law clients. I know how to present your case and how to effectively negotiate your settlement.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
