Attorney Information
Overview
Grace Lea Chang received a Martindale-Hubbell BV* rating from her fellow lawyers. A BV* rating is bestowed upon a lawyer who has “an exemplary reputation and well-established practice … with a significant client base and high professional standing.”
Ms. Chang began her law practice after working 22 years in the healthcare field; managing a department of a Beckman Instruments and clinical laboratories. She desired more intellectually stimulating work and enrolled in law school at the suggestion of her late husband.
While attending law school at night, Grace worked full-time, often 12-hour days. Law school proved especially challenging, since English is her second language. Juggling the raising of her two kids and working full-time, she never considered quitting.
Ms. Chang’s first legal work experience was in a small law firm environment. This experience taught her the importance of direct client contact and was enjoyable, but she yearned for greater challenges. She found positions with several large firms in Los Angeles that included four years at one of the largest firms in the United States. During her large law firm tenure, she learned about maintaining the highest professional standards in her legal work. Her large firm's legal work focused on international corporate litigation.
But Ms. Chang wished to return to working more directly with her clients and opened her own firm. This gave her the opportunity to apply the large firm standards and her skills to a small firm setting. Traditionally, small firm clients do not get the same attention to detail and thorough research that large firms provide. Ms.Chang’s philosophy is to utilize the large firm approach for her clients.
In addition to providing personal attention to her clients, Ms. Chang has earned a reputation for skillful and effective legal representation, always mindful of the practical solution.
Ms.Chang is fluent in three dialects of Chinese: Mandarin, Cantonese, and Shanghainese. Her practice areas include family law, civil litigation, probate law, wills & trusts, and corporate advisement & transactions.
