Overview

Spencer Pavelchik received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2011 with a double major in History and Philosophy, the latter with a concentration in Ethics & Public Policy. Mr. Pavelchik elected to attend Seattle University School of Law upon being awarded a Trustee Law Scholarship. He obtained his Juris Doctor in 2015.

Mr. Pavelchik has extensive experience with administrative hearings, having spent the first several years of his practice defending Workers’ Compensation claims for employers and insurance carriers. He has appeared in front of dozens of administrative law judges throughout the state, consistently achieving optimal results. His experience assessing permanent disability in a variety of orthopedic, psychiatric, neurologic, cardiovascular and other injury cases, as well as taking the depositions of employees and treating physicians, positioned him well for a transition to medical malpractice and hospital liability defense.

Mr. Pavelchik joined Low McKinley & Salenko in 2020. His civil litigation practice focuses on defending physicians, dentists, chiropractors, nurses, and surgery centers in medical malpractice cases. Mr. Pavelchik has “second-chaired” two trials, both of which resulted in defense judgments. Mr. Pavelchik also represents clients in professional licensing matters with the Medical Board of California, the Dental Board of California, and the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Mr. Pavelchik was admitted to the California State Bar in 2016 and is a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
