Overview
Roderick, or Rory as he is known to friends and family, started his education at Damien High School, located in La Verne, California. He formed life-long friendships and is proud to have been part of the back-to-back CIF Championship winning soccer teams. He is also a proud Eagle Scout from Troop 655, located in Alta Loma, CA. Rory credits his experiences with Scouting for helping him to develop his passion for community service.
Following his graduation from Damien, Rory took his talents to UCLA where he majored in History and graduated with honors. Rory continued his volunteer work at UCLA by participating in the Watts Tutorial Program, including providing 10 lbs of his special chili for the students in the program.
The story shifts North, as Rory was accepted to UC Hastings College of the Law, located in San Francisco, California. Rory continued serving his community by participating in GAAP (General Assistance Advocacy Project) where he helped low-income clients with a myriad of legal issues. During law school, Rory interned at the Los Angeles, San Mateo, and San Bernardino District Attorney's Offices. He also completed an internship with the Honorable Katrina West of the San Bernardino Superior Court.
Following his graduation from UC Hastings, Rory moved back to the Inland Empire and joined the Law Offices of Michael A. Scafiddi, where he has worked for the past 7 years. During the past seven years, Rory has represented clients in numerous courts and jurisdictions including: San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, Mono, Kern, San Diego, Imperial, Ventura, San Mateo and Inyo Counties. In addition, he represented clients in both the Central and Southern U.S. District Courts and numerous administrative hearings.
"Rory believes in taking a holistic approach with each client. He seeks to address the person's legal issues as well as other challenges in their life. His philosophy is that each client is an individual and deserves to be treated as such. He believes that compassionate lawyering is essential to not only good outcomes, but client satisfaction."

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
