Overview
Elliott H. Jung is one of the founding partners of HHJ Trial Attorneys, a top-rated personal injury and employment litigation firm serving San Diego County. Elliott is widely recognized as a skilled San Diego personal injury lawyer who represents victims of catastrophic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, sexual assault, and workplace retaliation. His relentless commitment to justice has earned him a place among the top 2.5% of attorneys in the nation by Super Lawyers and recognition as one of the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40. Since co-founding HHJ Trial Attorneys, Elliott has helped recover millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for injured clients. In 2024, the firm was voted “Best Litigation Firm” in San Diego County by the San Diego Union-Tribune.
A Proven Trial Lawyer With a Reputation for Results
Elliott’s success stems from nearly a decade of intense focus on jury trials. His reputation as a fearless trial attorney often allows his clients to achieve maximum case value without ever stepping foot in the courtroom. Defense attorneys and insurance companies know that if Elliott’s clients are not offered a fair settlement, he will take the case to trial—where he has tried more than 50 jury trials to verdict. His commanding courtroom presence and proven track record have earned him the respect of judges, peers, and opposing counsel throughout San Diego County.
Education & Early Career in Law
The son of immigrant parents, Elliott’s passion for advocacy was shaped by his upbringing and his determination to break cultural and societal barriers. He attended Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, where he discovered his love for the courtroom. During law school, Elliott was one of only 16 students accepted into the school’s prestigious Honors Program. He also earned a position on the Trial Advocacy Honors Program, competing in trial competitions nationwide and winning 1st place in the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Trial Competition for the region.
Elliott’s legal career was shaped by several elite internships and clerkships. He interned with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office Appellate Unit, where he argued cases before a panel of three judges—an opportunity rarely given to law students. He also clerked for the Honorable Mark E. Windham in the Los Angeles Superior Court and the Honorable Ronald S.W. Lew, Senior United States District Court Judge for the Central District of California, gaining invaluable insight into judicial decision-making. His final year of law school was spent working for the Federal Public Defender’s Office, where he assisted in defending federal drug smuggling and high-profile fraud cases.
Advanced Trial Training & Ongoing Education
Dedicated to honing his craft, Elliott graduated from the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College, one of the most selective and prestigious trial advocacy programs in the world. He continues to attend advanced trial trainings and also supports other attorneys by assisting with both pre-trial and trial strategy. His ongoing commitment to legal excellence ensures his clients benefit from cutting-edge trial techniques and creative litigation strategies.
Mentorship, Teaching & Community Involvement
Elliott’s passion for justice extends beyond the courtroom. He teaches trial skills as an adjunct professor at California Western School of Law and coaches law students competing in local and national trial competitions. Elliott is also committed to pro bono work, volunteering with the San Diego Christian Legal Aid Society to assist those who cannot afford legal representation.
As an advocate for diversity and inclusion, Elliott serves on the Board of Directors for the Asian Cultural Media Alliance, a nonprofit that promotes Asian American representation in film and media. His dedication to empowering others—whether in the courtroom, classroom, or community—defines his role as both an attorney and a mentor.
