Ms. Contreras initially began practicing law with her focus on civil litigation matters, including business and real estate matters, and bankruptcy. During this time, several of her business clients sought advice from her on family law matters, specifically divorces where businesses and assets are involved. Her clients found it strategically beneficial to have an attorney well versed in business, real estate and trial skills to assist them with their family law needs. Ms. Contreras found that all of these areas intertwine and that having extensive knowledge in each one of them is important and beneficial to her clients.

Although a litigator, Ms. Contreras understands that litigation is not always the answer. Although she is known to excel in the courtroom, she understands the importance of creating a strategy that is most beneficial to her client, whether that be negotiating a settlement or attending formal mediation to reach a peaceful resolution. Even when settlement is the ultimate goal or the best course of action for the case, Ms. Contreras understands that this too requires strategy and must be done at the right time in a case.
