Attorney Information

Overview

Al has extensive experience in business litigation and represents a variety of clients in the resolution of various private and commercial disputes. After 14 years as General Counsel of a multi-million dollar lumber and hardware retailer, Al brought a wealth of expertise in the complex field of construction litigation and broad knowledge in the specialized areas of mechanics’ liens and related construction remedies to Reynolds Law, LLP. Al’s knowledge is rounded out by years of experience addressing contracts and contract-based disputes in addition to broad experience with union and non-union labor negotiations. Al’s period as an extern to Justice John A. Arguelles of the California Supreme Court gave him unique insight into both the gravity of the litigation process, and the importance of seeking resolution before the dispute is consumed and controlled by the process itself.

In conjunction with his litigation-centered practice, Al has received special training with, and certification in, alternative dispute resolution, not only from the American Arbitration Association, but also from the prestigious Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law, as well as from the National Conflict Resolution Center. As a result, Al is currently on the mediation panel for the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District.

Simply put, Al is a tremendous resource for Reynolds Law, LLP in the field of resolving private and commercial disputes of all types.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
