I was referred by an acquaintance of mine (who is also an attorney) to Attorney Michael Dujovne at VolkLaw. My situation was not unique . If you’re hiring an attorney often it’s because one party doesn’t want to sell the marital home, the other party insists it be sold and the attorney mediates to achieve a satisfactory outcome for both parties. What did make my case unique is, I live in a different state, my significant other was also my business partner and civility wasn’t in his vocabulary. Attorney Dujovne quickly assessed my case, discussed and executed a flawless action plan for the successful , swift sale of my home. Had he not been on point & sharp this undoubtedly would have not ended with this stellar review. If you’re looking for an Attorney that not only knows the laws; knows that time=money, and clients are relying on the attorney & staff to resolve matters ethically & timely for what’s most advantageous for the client you needn’t look any further. His staff is equally as amazing. Wonderful experience!

As many negative reviews of Volk Law firm state, his speciality includes sending copious amounts of invoices for scanning and uploading documents. I have now been ridiculed with emails by Mr. Siemer stating that since I won’t pay more invoices, he is dropping my case. He has been mocking my company and is threatening to now sue me after I hired him for my case. I have paid thousands of dollars for him to ridicule me instead of help me and represent me. I have email correspondence showing how this attorney has caused more harm than good.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
