Law Office of Bryan P. Lynch, P.C.
Chicago Eminent Domain and Condemnation Lawyer
Overview
Bryan P. Lynch concentrates his practice on representing owners of commercial, industrial, residential and agricultural property affected by eminent domain and condemnation. For over 18 years in the private and public sectors, Mr. Lynch has litigated cases involving a wide variety of properties and uses, such as investment grade retail, commercial, agricultural, industrial, multi-family, and residential. Mr. Lynch counts as valued clients individual property owners and small businesses, as well as national and regional corporations, financial institutions, REITs, grocery store chains, shopping centers, including Inland Real Estate Corporation, Royal Bank of Scotland, Fifth Third Bank, Speedway, Heartland Automotive Services (Jiffy Lube), and Caputo's Fresh Markets.
Mr. Lynch represents client interests in circuit courts across Chicago's metropolitan area, including Cook, Will, Lake, Kane, Kendall, DuPage, and McHenry, in addition to federal court. In his role protecting property owners' rights, Mr. Lynch is routinely opposing state, county and municipal taking agencies, such as IDOT, the Illinois Tollway, CTA, City of Chicago, and Public Building Commission of Chicago. He handles eminent domain cases on a contingency basis; so he only receives legal fees if there is an increase over the government's offer, and he receives only a percentage of that increase.
Bryan Lynch has presented seminars for organizations such as the Chicago Farmers workshop and National Business Institute, and was appointed by several presidents of the Illinois State Bar Association to serve on its Real Estate Section Council. He has also been interviewed by the Chicago Tribune regarding eminent domain, and has had articles published in such periodicals as the Chicago Law Bulletin. Mr. Lynch is an elected member of the ISBA's Assembly, representing attorneys in Cook County on legislative and policy matters. He is also a member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, the Illinois Bar Foundation, and the Cook County Justinian Society of Lawyers.
Mr. Lynch is actively involved with his community, serving on the Chairman's Advisory Council for Big Shoulders Fund, and as a Board Member for the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago. Mr. Lynch resides in Chicago with his wife and three young sons, enjoys coaching youth soccer and baseball, and is a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
