Overview
Pete has spent over two decades representing people and families in medical malpractice, wrongful death, and other personal injury cases in courts throughout the state of Illinois and in other states around the country. Using his extensive experience and expertise in the fields of medical malpractice, transportation (automobile, trucking and public transport) accidents, defective and dangerous products or premises, sexual abuse, and wrongful death litigation, Pete has successfully obtained over $150 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients.
A graduate of Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, Pete has regularly achieved multi - million-dollar settlements and verdicts, and has been twice recognized by the National Law Journal as having achieved one of the largest jury verdicts in the United States. Pete serves on the Alumni Board of Governors for Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, is a Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation, and has served on the Board of Managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, and on the American Association for Justice’s Board of Governors, Young Lawyers Division. Pete is a frequent guest lecturer for the University of Illinois Law School, and is a regular presenter for a variety of bar association continuing legal education seminars. In 2007, Pete was recognized by Chicago Daily Law Bulletin as one of “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch”. He has been recognized by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company as a “Leading Lawyer” (awarded to the top 5% of all lawyers) every year since 2003 to present, and has been selected as an “Illinois Super Lawyer” by the publishers of Law & Politics magazine and Thomson Reuters every year since 2009. In 2008, Tom Leahy and Peter Hoste established the Leahy & Hoste Scholarship at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law to help deserving law students pay for their legal education.
