Attorney Information
Overview
Robert Pavich is the Founding Partner of Pavich Law Group. Since 1975, Bob's practice has been dedicated to litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. His practice spans across Pavich Law Group's Personal Injury and Commercial Litigation practices and includes representation of tort victims of human rights violations throughout the world, encompassing mass tort and class action litigation.
Bob graduated from Harvard College in 1969 and, after serving in the US Army Military Intelligence in Vietnam, attained his J.D. in 1975. Since that time, he has successfully litigated hundreds of cases, including wrongful death cases, catastrophic injury cases, and actions stemming from international human rights violations. His recent international experience includes representation of an American company against the Republic of Iraq, which resulted in a $122 million judgment.
For over 40 years, Bob has practiced in state and federal courts throughout the country and in tribunals around the world. Bob's international experience includes work as lead trial counsel at the Hague War Crimes Tribunal from 2001 through 2005. From 2007 through 2010, he was lead defense counsel in five federal deportation prosecutions in Florida and Illinois, all of which resulted in acquittals. Bob also served as Advisor to the Military Defense Counsel for Guantanamo.
He has, over decades, assembled and led litigation teams that have taken on health insurers, hospital conglomerates, the United States government, international corporations and foreign sovereign nations in complex litigation.
Bob has been a perennial member of "Super Lawyers", which recognizes less than 5% of attorneys nationally. He has been licensed and admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) for more than twenty years, the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th and 7th Circuits, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Bob maintains numerous memberships in professional and civic organizations, including the American, Illinois, and Chicago Bar Associations, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association—for which he has served on the Board of Governors and Board of Advocates for over 20 years—the American Association for Justice, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Bob is also a founding member and past President of the Serbian Bar Association of America, where he was given the Vanguard Award for community service.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
