Overview
Mr. Wu received a B.A. degree in English from Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages. After receiving his J.D. degree from the University of Iowa College of Law, he worked for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Lee M. Jackwig, Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Iowa. During his tenure, he wrote more than 200 research memoranda covering a wide range of issues on bankruptcy and related federal and state laws, in addition to drafting court opinions and orders.
Mr. Wu started private practice in 1996, representing individuals and small business owners in thousands of bankruptcy cases, including adversary proceedings and contested matters.
Mr. Wu is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Iowa and Florida, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (whose jurisdiction covers Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana) and various federal district courts. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, Illinois State Bar Association and is certified in Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification. He served as a member of the Bankruptcy Court Liaison Committee between 2007 and 2009.
After graduating from college, Mr. Wu worked for seven years as a journalist for China Daily, the only English-language newspaper published in mainland China. He speaks Chinese, and enjoys classical music.
