Attorney Information
Overview
Jesse is a blue collar worker in a white collar industry. He graduated high school early and put himself through community college before transferring to the University of Virginia. He came home to Illinois for law school, clerking for a large downstate defense firm during his summers. He spent 15 years working on the defense side, primarily defending hospitals and healthcare workers. He tried a dozen medical malpractice cases for the defense – not one of those cases ended in a verdict for the plaintiff. He became the partner-in-charge of his office in Peoria and the office’s lead partner on the medical malpractice defense team. Ultimately, Jesse realized that his heart was no longer in defending the healthcare industry. After years of seeing injustices play out firsthand, he found himself called to protect the rights of those injured at the hands of healthcare workers. He proudly joined forces with Dudley & Lake in 2022. Jesse considers it a privilege to now have the opportunity to help injury victims and families with their medical negligence, wrongful death, and nursing home negligence matters. While Jesse has tried cases throughout the State and remains willing to do so, he primarily focuses his practice on downstate matters.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
