I was born in Manchester, Iowa on October 10, 1954 to Mary L. Swift (Lucey) and John Q. Swift. I have six brothers and three sisters. I attended St. Marys School in Manchester, Iowa through and including the eighth grade. I attended West Delaware High School and graduated in 1973. I attended Wartburg College in Waverley Iowa from 1973 through 1977. I graduated in 1977 with a BA in Business Administration and Political Science. I participated in Football and Wrestling while attending Wartburg College. I was Captain of the Wrestling and Football teams in my senior year. I attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska from 1977 through 1980. I graduated in 1980 with a J.D. I started my law practice with my father in Manchester, Iowa in 1980. My Grandfather Hubert J. Swift started the firm in Manchester in 1923. My father, John Q. Swift joined the practice in 1950. Hubert died in 1970. My Father died in 2009. While in Manchester, Iowa, i have been an elected member of the Manchester City Council and an elected member of the West Delaware School District Board of Directors. I also serve on the Board of Directors of Community Savings Bank. I was a Member of the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department. I am also a member of the Manchester Lions Club and the Waterloo Elks Club. I married my wife Kathleen J. Swift (Harbaugh) in 1984. We have three adult children, Robert, Theodore and Claire.About Swift Law Firm
