Lexington Civil Litigation Defense Lawyer

Overview

I have been selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America for personal injury litigation defense. I am a Kentucky Super Lawyer and have been an AV Preeminent Rated Attorney for 12 years.

I have spoken frequently state wide and nationally on Civil Litigation, Trial practice and Tactics, Commercial Trucking Litigation, Insurer Law and Education and School Law areas. I have chaired the Kentucky Bar Association convention CLE program in 1998 and 2010. I have served in leadership positions in the Fayette County Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association and the John Rowe chapter of the NBA.
I have over 35 years’ experience as a successful trial attorney. My Practice concentrates on Civil Trial Practice, Commercial Trucking Litigation, Insurance Defense Law, Public Education/School Law, Civil Rights Litigation, Complex Litigation, Premises Liability/ Arson Litigation, Product Liability Law, Bad Faith Litigation in both State andFederal Courts, Wrongful Death and Professional Malpractice Law.
I volunteer a great deal of my time to civic outreach such as, mentoring members of the BLSA at the University of Kentucky College of Law; serving with Men with One Voice Empowered (MOVE); The Georgetown Men’s Association; and Care2, all focused on serving as a role model for under-represented and disenfranchised youth.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
