Jeffrey K. McClain's practice is concentrated in Immigration. His practice includes family-based immigration and employment-based immigration cases, as well as Removal and Deportation cases. In addition to his employment-based immigration practice, Mr. McClain assists employers with employment verification and compliance issues including I-9 audits and reviews. His clients consist of families, individuals, private employers, religious organizations, private primary and secondary schools and institutions of higher education.

Mr. McClain began his practice at the Catholic Charities Office of Immigrant Services. While practicing at the Catholic Charities, he represented numerous refugees who fled their home countries for fear of persecution. He also represented foreign nationals and their U.S. citizen family members with family-based petitions and applications.

After leaving the Catholic Charities, Mr. McClain worked at one of the large regional law firms and a medium-sized local law firm where he continued his focus in Immigration and Nationality Law. At both firms, he continued to represent employers and employees in employment-based immigration cases before the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Labor. Here, Mr. McClain's work focused on temporary visas for foreign workers, including H-1B, L-1, E-2, TN, R-1, O-1/O-2 and P-1/P-2 visas among other employment-based non-immigrant visas. Mr. McClain also represented employers and employees with permanent labor certification (PERM) and immigrant petitions for foreign workers. In addition to his employment-based immigration practice, Mr. McClain continued representing families and individuals in filing petitions and applications for family members, permanent residency and citizenship.

Mr. McClain's practice also included representing employers with workplace and worksite compliance where he conducted I-9 audits and employment compliance reviews with employers. This work included representing clients before the U.S. Department of Labor in prevailing wage disputes before the Wage and Hour Division and debarment cases before the Administrative Law Judges.

Mr. McClain also served as a state prosecutor with the Jefferson County Attorney's Office in Louisville, Kentucky. There, he was assigned to the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit where he prosecuted crimes of domestic violence ranging from assault to stalking. He also served in the Felony/Misdemeanor Division where he prosecuted crimes ranging from non-domestic assault, financial crimes, fraud and drugs.

Mr. McClain has given numerous presentations and Continuing Legal Education Programs on Immigration and Nationality Law over the years to a multitude of organizations ranging from the Louisville Bar Association, Women's Law Enforcement Network, Foreign Student Advisors, Student Organizations, Construction Organizations and various other social groups. Mr. McClain has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville where he taught Immigration Law.
