Overview
Scott Buhrer is a long time resident of Kenner, Louisiana. He attended Tulane University where he received a B.A. in political science (1982), his law degree (1986) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) (1995). After law school, Mr. Buhrer worked briefly at a large, downtown law firm. Mr. Buhrer subsequently served for three (3) years as an Assistant City Attorney in New Orleans while also employed with an established family law firm where he obtained his training in this specialized area of the law from one of the then foremost experts in the field.
A seasoned trial attorney and negotiator, Mr. Buhrer brings over 24 years experience to every family law and succession matter he handles. Clients can count on his perspective and understanding to guide them effectively through the legal process and arrive at a successful resolution of their legal problems. Mr. Buhrer has worked on literally hundreds of cases in the family law and succession areas during his career, ranging from simple, non-contested matters to extremely complex and highly contentious cases. As a sole practitioner, he personally handles every aspect of each case and keeps clients informed every step of the way.
In recognition of his legal knowledge and experience and his reputation amongst Judges and other lawyers, Mr. Buhrer is frequently appointed by family law Judges in Jefferson, St. Tammany and Orleans Parishes to serve as Special Master in difficult and complex family law matters. In that capacity, he makes formal recommendations to the Trial Judge, which if not objected to, become the ruling of the Court. Only a select few family law practitioners are appointed to this important position.
Mr. Buhrer also maintains the highest possible AV Preeminent peer review rating by Martindale Hubbell and has been named a Top Lawyer in the area of Family Law by New Orleans Magazine.
