Bloomfield Hills Car Accidents Lawyer
Overview
Mr. Schefman is a life-long resident of the Great State of Michigan and has dedicated his career in law to helping people. In a legal career which has spanned 38 years, Bryan Schefman has represented injured clients and medical doctors, on both sides of auto collision and medical malpractice, subrogation, and insurance recovery cases, representing thousands of clients and winning millions of dollars. With knowledge and experience in complex medical cases, and his experience in medical issues for insurance companies and injured victims, he is able to help his clients through the insurance maze and maximize their recoveries. In addition to helping people who are injured, Mr. Schefman has served physicians and healthcare organizations in general business and healthcare fields and he served as General Counsel to a Medicaid Managed Care Plan (Great Lakes Health Plan, Inc.), and later as CEO, in an effort to redefine care management strategies that could actually reduce costs by improving patient health. Now back in private practice, Mr. Schefman is able to combine his knowledge of personal injury law and recovery, insurance law, subrogation and claims, general and professional liability to help his clients and continue to win millions of dollars in settlements and multi-million dollar verdicts for them.
Mr. Schefman has been in your shoes, having survived near-critical injuries in motor vehicles and motorcycles. He has experienced severe injury, the confusion of insurance coverages, finding doctors to treat his injuries, delays in payments by insurance carriers, settlement, and the stress of the care and recovery for him and his family. That has been valuable experience that has influenced his understanding of your needs as a client. Let him help you.
Mr. Schefman has received numerous professional recognitions, including 1998 Runner-up in Ernst & Young’s/Crain’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” in the formation, funding and growth of a venture capital-funded insurance company, 2014 & 2015 D-business and “Top Lawyer” designation, as well as dramatic success in breaking new ground in the application of the Medicare Secondary Payor Act. His roles as a founder of an insurance company, as its General Counsel, and as President and CEO, as a lobbyist, a member of the board of directors of a MCO/HMO and MCO trade association, and his representation of physicians and individuals in medical related matters, has given Mr. Schefman a keen insight into the inter-relationship of insurance coverage, injury, and payment that he is able to apply to the benefit of his clients. Whether you’re injured and need medical care or a doctor that has provided care that needs to be paid, Mr. Schefman is in your corner.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
