Jacob Porcarelli - Detroit, MI

As a proud labor and employment lawyer, Jacob did not end up in this field by accident. Jacob understands that employees often face unfair and illegal treatment while at work and the difficulties associated with that. Whether it be a union issue or an issue of discrimination, Jacob is passionate about fighting for the rights of his clients. Jacob’s passion is informed by his personal ties to organized labor and belief that discrimination has zero place in our society.

Jacob attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, on an academic scholarship, where he graduated with a degree in Political Science. At Miami, Jacob was a member of many organizations and was nominated to serve on two student-led boards.

He subsequently graduated Cum Laude from the University of Toledo College of Law in 2023, after attending school full-time and working part-time. During law school, Jacob worked at a local criminal defense firm where he assisted with expungements, driver’s license restorations, and trials. He also spent time as a clerk for the Hon. Daniel S. White of the Monroe County Circuit Court handling civil and business court matters. In addition to working and attending class, Jacob served as the Vice President of Toledo Law’s Labor and Employment Law Association.

Prior to joining the team at Miller Cohen, Jacob worked at a plaintiff’s firm in Detroit, where he represented clients in employment discrimination, personal injury, and civil rights cases.
