After graduating in 1989, he went on to pursue his education in the legal field. About Craig R. Fiederlein

Craig R. Fiederlein is a 1993 graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration Pre-Law. He graduated cum laude, making the Dean's list 9 times in his 4 years at MSU. He was honored by the Golden Key National Honors Society and Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society for graduating in the top 5% of the business school. While at MSU, Craig pursued his interest in Real Estate Law and Finance taking course work in Accounting, Finance, Insurance, Real Estate, and Constitutional law. He worked as a landlord-tenant counselor volunteer and was a member of the campus Judiciary team and President's Counsel for Wonder's Hall. Due to Craig's graduation at MSU, he bleeds green and white and enjoys MSU football and basketball as a season ticket holder.

Education & Achievements

While Craig was attending college, he worked on his interest in real estate, working in the Bronx, New York for the property management company Ralph Langsam & Associates, a company with over 300 apartment buildings under management. He also held a job at a title company, Judicial Title Insurance, as a processor learning the inner workings of the title insurance and abstract agency, including title recording, abstracting, policies, and various legal documents for the transfer of a real estate in New York.

In law school, Craig graduated cum laude from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1996. He was honored with a full academic scholarship for placing in the top 10 of his class his first year of law school. In fact, Craig received a "book" award for obtaining the highest score in several of his classes, including Constitution Law, Criminal Law and Civil Procedure. While in law school, he was the business editor of the University of Toledo Law Review. In the summer, he clerked for senior judge George M. Glasser of the State of Ohio, Court of Appeals, Sixth District, writing opinions for review by the judge.

After clerking at the Court of Appeals, the next summer Craig worked at a very reputable firm in Toledo, Ohio, Marshall & Melhorn, PC, a 30 attorney firm where he wrote briefs and memorandums of law on many issues, including employment discrimination, patent law, real estate, and general civil litigation issues. In addition to his duties during the summer, Craig was a research assistant for Dean James Klein, his civil procedure professor, where he assisted in research and writing supplements to Baldwin's Ohio Civil Practice and drafted a paper entitled Unemployment Insurance for the Advisory Council of Unemployment Compensation to assist the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform in preparing a colloquium on Unemployment Insurance.

Experience in the Legal Field

After law school, Craig Fiederlein, began his career working in a small firm in Clarkston, Michigan where he became a partner within 3 years. He was mentored by attorney C. Dan Harry, learning the nuances of complex civil litigation, handling cases in the District and Circuit Courts of the State of Michigan and Federal Courts on several areas of the law including real estate and business disputes. He also handled the firm's probate and estate planning practice matters. Further, the firm created a short sales department to assist clients with the sale of their houses and negotiating with their mortgage company.

While at Harry, McMillen & Fiederlein, PC, Craig moved to Grand Blanc in 1999 where he still lives with his wife and two beautiful girls. He expanded the firm's practice network to include Genesee County and the Flint area.

Real Estate Transactions & Litigation

A large percentage of the firm's caseload involves real estate transactions and disputes. This area of the law includes land title disputes, boundary disputes, adverse possession, easements, fraudulent misrepresentation in the sale of a property, construction lien claims and disputes, environmental and survey issues, collection, and probate; Craig's past education and training have allowed him to competently provide high-quality representation in real estate matters. Craig obtained his builder's license to become more knowledgeable about his handling of construction disputes/matters for his clients. His prior background in property management and title insurance has further assisted his knowledge of this area of the law. Craig has spoken at seminars involving real estate including Landlord and Tenant matters.

Wills, Probate & Trust Administration

Craig handles the majority of the firms' caseload related to this area. Craig is certified by the Institute of Continuing Education in Michigan for Probate and Estate Planning. He has assisted clients by preparing Wills, Revocable Grantor Trusts, Special Needs Trusts, Powers of Attorney for Finance and Health Care, and other Trust and Will funding and related documents. He has prepared Lady Bird Deeds for his clients to assist in avoid probate court. He can handle all aspects of Trust and/or Probate Administration if your loved one has passed or requires other estate planning or Guardianships or Conservatorships. This includes contested Trusts and Wills. His current clients live all around the United States and he has handled Probate Estates in numerous counties in Michigan from Detroit to Up North, Michigan.

Business Litigation

The firm handles all aspects of business and personal civil litigation including contractual disputes, construction disputes, business dissolution, arbitration, collection, etc. Craig's background with a degree from MSU in business administration and knowledge of accounting and financial matters assists with his understanding of his client's business concerns.
