Troy Divorce Lawyer
Overview
Kristen L. Robinson received her bachelor's degree from Hope College located in Holland, Michigan. She attended Detroit College of Law (which is now Michigan State University School of Law). She has the distinction of being a member of the last class to graduate in Detroit where she earned her law degree, with honors, cum laude. Kristen concentrates her practice in domestic relations litigation. She also has the capability to assist clients who desire to settle their cases on the terms that work for their respective families, rather than allowing the court process to dictate the important decisions in their lives. In addition to representing clients as an advocate, Kristen is a trained neutral mediator, chosen by other lawyers and appointed by the court to assist other parties in settling their family law matters. Kristen represents clients who have cases in Oakland County, Macomb County and Wayne County. She was elected by her peers to the 21-member State Bar of Michigan Family Law Council. The Council works to influence, analyze and advocate for family law related interests including legislation and court rules. In 2009 Kristen received a prestigious award from the Family Law Assistance Project in recognition for her legal assistance to the indigent clients of Oakland County. Kristen is member of the following organizations: State Bar of Michigan, Family Law Section; Oakland County Bar Association, Family Court Committee (past Chair); Oakland County Bar Foundation; Rochester Bar Association; and Michigan Inter-Professional Association.About Kristen L. How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
