After changing attorneys in the middle of my divorce proceeding I hired the Mullen Law firm. I was very pleased that I made that decision. Mitch Mullen took the time out to explain what to expect during the proceedings. He responded to me in a timely fashion. he was very sympathetic to the situation at hand. he kept me up to date. Overall, had a great experience with this law firm.

Mullen didn't know what he was doing when he "helped" me. He didn't even know what things he didn't know. My girlfriend is in terrible pain, which adversely affects her behavior. She called 911 too often. Finally, the county declared her incapacitated, and sent her to a horrible nursing home. I was trying to get her out to another facility that would mitigate her pain, and get her proper treatment for other problems, so she could come home with me. He probably had never handled a case like mine before. He was overly optimistic throughout. When I pointed out problems, including misrepresentations by the opposition, he dismissed my concerns. He did not, at all, prepare my for the cross-examination. It was tough. After the "cross", I stepped down from the witness stand, and he whispered to me, "We won." When the judge read the ruling, it was obvious that we had lost, and lost big. We lost on every point, except one minor concession on one point. Stepping out of the court room, he told me "You did fine." I paid him off to the penny. I could have done better representing myself. If you hire Mr. Mullen, make sure he has already dealt with something like your own case.

I disagree with this prior client's assessment with the case which stood before him and we did the best we could to rectify the situation. I still wish him well and hope the best for him and his girlfriend.

I hired Mitch to handle an extremely difficult child support case in New Jersey for arrears that dated back to over 5 years ago and wasn’t closed out when the child turned 18; however Mitch and his team handled it effectively despite the delays due to covid and the court house. In the end I got the result I was hoping for with affordable charges. I confidently recommend this attorney for family law issues and disregard the negative reviews from unknown people.

Didn't want to help me at all. Now this case has become something entirely different. There is perjury and punitive damages and I have done this all on my own. I have a serious heart condition, my mother just had brain surgery and all I asked was for this company to please take over so I won't lose the case. I had 2 motions to vacate that I got denied on the defendants part. I'm not sleeping, eating waking up vomiting because this is overwhelming for me.I don't spend any time with my children because this is a class all it's own and I am not a lawyer.

This person was never a client of our office. I believe she may have spoken briefly with our office. Our office advised it was not something we could help her with unfortunaelty.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
