Michael Lizzi, a partner at Maggiano, DiGirolamo & Lizzi P.C., has been with the firm since 1996. Mr. Lizzi practices complex and standard tort litigation in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey in the fields of medical and hospital negligence, nursing home negligence, wrongful death, motor vehicle collision and highway design negligence, property and building defects, and defective consumer products.

He is licensed to practice before the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey, as well as in the federal district courts of the southern and eastern districts of New York and the district of New Jersey.

Before joining the firm in 1996, Mr. Lizzi worked as a litigation associate in the New York firm of Novick, Edelstein, Lubell, Reisman, Wasserman & Leventhal, P.C., joining that firm in 1991. He has also interned for the Honorable Marie Lambert of the New York State Surrogate Court, New York County.

Mr. Lizzi is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association and the Hudson County Bar Association. Recovered $2.25 Million Dollars for client injured in an auto accident on the Garden State Parkway. The client was clipped on the driver’s side sending him into a spin and then into the median barrier. Client had 12 year history of neck pain and eventually had surgery. Recovery included $115K ERISA lien ($75k pip exhausted).

Recovered $742,000 Dollars for client injured in a bicycle accident. The client was injured after defendant turned left despite having yielded the right of way client and was thrown from their bike suffering injuries to their low back. Resulted in a verdict after trial of $700,000 plus pre-judgment interest of in excess of $42K. Recovery was achieved despite the policy limit of $250k.

Recovered $750,000 Dollars for client injured in an auto accident . Client was hit by defendant during an attempted lane change on the approach to the GW bridge in the Bronx. Client was out of work for 9 months and disability insurance covered her lost earnings. There was a $42,000 ERISA lien.

Recovered $2.4 Million Dollars for client injured in a work-related incident. The client was inspecting construction work at a public school in Brooklyn when he fell through a thinly covered air shaft, falling several feet and causing injuries and the need for multiple surgeries. Recovery was achieved despite an issue concerning the NY workers’ compensation bar.

Recovered $700,000 for client who fell through an outdoor cellar door opening in Brooklyn where client contending she suffered a brain injury. The brain injury was in dispute in the case, and recovery against the commercial store tenant was achieved, despite the store’s argument that the opening was obvious and in plain view of store patrons and marked with caution signs.

Recovered a $750,000 settlement for a client who was struck on the Cross Bronx when the defendant changed lanes and collided with her vehicle. Client sustained a back injury and underwent a laminectomy and received multiple injections to her lower back following the collision.

Recovered $495,000 for a client whose car was struck in the rear. Client underwent various injections to her neck and received neck fusion surgery.

Recovered $300,000 full policy limits for a slip and fall on ice with ankle surgery.
