Customer Reviews for The Law Offices of Daniel K. Newman

Hired Law firm 2024Mr. Newman, Took my case in a custody matter involving my minor grandchild. I provided all evidence as this was a 4 year old case. As could no longer afford my previous attorney, I explained I just need Mr. Newman to present the old evidence and new fluid evidence to a new Judge. At our first hearing Mr. Newman demanded the Judge recuse himself which he refused to do. The case was rescheduled for a later date. Mr. Newman sent my a pleading email to release him as my attorney because he was retiring before the next hearing date. Explaining that you can see what this Judge is doing? What is the Judge doing? Hired in February he is retiring in June, apparently he didn’t think I needed to know that in a case that was 4 years ongoing. When an asked why he was unable to see my case through until the beginning of June? Was he ill perhaps? He snapped back stating I couldn’t ask that. I am sorry you are working for me and want to quit and I can’t ask why? He falsely padded his bill up another $5,000. Then put a Judgement against me. He is a gem.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
