East Syracuse Estate Planning Law Firm
Overview
The Koldin Law Center, P.C., was established in 1964 by founding attorney Leonard C. Koldin who began his work handling Medicaid cases as the former Chief Welfare Attorney for Onondaga County. His experience as chief welfare attorney made him a trusted authority on asset protection for elderly residents in New York, which has set the bar for our staff and lawyers to this day.
At our law firm, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional legal services to individuals and families in Onondaga County and surrounding counties, who need help with their estate planning needs, such as:
- Wills
- Powers of attorney
- Health care proxies
- Irrevocable trusts
- Revocable trusts
- Supplemental Needs trusts
- Medicaid eligibility
- Medicaid applications
- Estate planning for individuals with disabilities
- Estate administration and probate
At Koldin Law Center, P.C., we initiate trust with our clients by making them feel like they're family and that they're welcomed the moment they walk through our doors. We then maintain that trust by offering creative and practical solutions that take into account each of our clients' unique situations and legal needs.
With our flat-fees, our clients never feel rushed or that they will be charged excessively if their case needs extra time. We believe this is just one of the many things that sets our law firm apart from others.
If you live in Central New York, we encourage you to contact our East Syracuse law office. We provide free initial consultations where you can discuss your situation and learn about the legal options that work best for you and your family.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
