0.5 out of 5 stars

I had retained Mr. Eric Sanders services after I reported misconduct at work and was retaliated against. This attorney is the worst of the worst! He lied to me for years, saying my case was moving forward, and it was not. I kept emailing him asking, and he just kept me on false hopes. During this time, he decided to add me to a different case as my retaliation case was supposedly running. The new case was for lactation/breastmilk express rights at a workplace that he realized I was never accommodated for. He had this case with another female, and he intended to make this case a class action out of it, very clever guy for sure. I had no input in the matter but to trust him and his advice. He said he was adding me to it as my retaliation case continued. Then he decided to move forward with retirement, and my statues of limitations had expired by then. I had no chance to continue with any other attorney, and he refused to return my retainer of 10,000 dollars. I have emails and emails of him keeping me on false hopes. Then, on the lactation case, I was asked to provide documentation (tax returns of ex-husband/HIPAA forms to other medical records not related to pregnancy or lactation years) not related and I refused to contunue my participation due to my morals and the rights to privacy of those individuals and myself. It has been the worst experience in the past 5 years dealing with this attorney. After I retained him. I read other reviews on how he cheated other people out of their money and did nothing with their cases, unfortunately. It's sad to see people use their title to take advantage of others in need. He put me and my family through worse than anything else.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
