Overview
Ms. Morrissey has experience in all areas of intellectual property law including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Her practice focuses primarily on client counseling including rendering of validity, infringement, and availibility opinions, and conducting licensing negotiations and drafting license agreements in the patent and trademark areas. She is involved in all aspects of patent prosecution including drafting patent applications, appeals to the USPTO's Board of Appeals, reissue applications, reexamination proceedings, and interferences. Her practice also involves all aspects of trademark prosecution including trademark oppositions.
Ms. Morrissey's clients include pharmaceutical, agricultural, biotechnological, chemical, and technological companies.
Prior to law school, Ms. Morrissey was a scientific advisor in the intellectual property field. At the time, she maintained a large foreign and U.S. prosecution docket for large chemical clients and conducted scientific and patent searches. While in law school, Ms. Morrissey was awarded a St. John's University School of Law Academic Scholarship and graduated cum laude from St. John's with her Juris Doctor degree.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Business Management. Ms. Morrissey obtained a position as a doctoral fellow and taught biology to medical and pharmacy students as she obtained a Master of Science degree with concentrations in molecular biology and biochemistry. During her graduate studies, she conducted research on multistage carcinogenesis and authored a thesis on the effect of amino acid deprivation on carcinogenic pancreatic cells in culture. Ms. Morrissey graduated summa cum laude from her undergraduate and graduate programs.
Ms. Morrissey is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the bar of the State of New York. She is also a member of the New York and American Bar Associations and the New York Intellectual Property Law Association.
