Herb Lacey is a patent agent and supports clients in the areas of patent preparation and prosecution.

As an agent and engineer, Herb combines his patent experience in software technologies and electronic arts with his engineering background in embedded systems, communication protocols, and multimedia system design to guide clients through the process of preparing and prosecuting patents to protect their business’ intellectual property.

Herb is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has prosecuted patent applications for over 10 years. He also prepares office action responses, pre-appeal briefs, appeal briefs, and reply briefs for pending patent application cases. Herb’s practice extends to counseling clients on prosecution strategies to maximize available legal protections for their inventions and technologies.

Prior to beginning his law practice, Herb spent over 20 years as an engineer writing software for telecommunications, networking, multimedia, and data mining systems. Herb’s strong technical background has allowed him to provide technical and patent prosecution expertise to clients in a number of diverse fields including electrical/electronic devices, communication systems, embedded systems, central processing unit architecture, payment system technology, robotic systems, medical devices, electromechanical systems, and signal processing systems.
