Tarboro Personal Injury Law Firm

Overview

The firm of O'Malley Tunstall, PLLC is dedicated to assisting the injured and disabled. Our firm began when Jimmie Keel first started the solo practice of law in 1983. He narrowed his practice to the civil practice of law with medical-legal related matters. Susan O'Malley joined Jimmie in 1995 and they first became law partners in 1998. The focus of the practice continued to narrow as the knowledge of the firm centered around personal injury, medical malpractice, social security and workers' compensation.

Although Susan has tried numerous civil jury trials, including some with recoveries in excess of $1,000,000.00, she found her calling in Social Security Disability. Susan is Board Certified by the North Carolina State Bar in Social Security Disability, has spoken on this topic throughout the Continental U.S., Hawaii and has even been an invited speaker in Toronto. She is the past president of the Disability section of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (formerly North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers), has been a member of their Board of Governors and is past president of the American Association for Justices' Disability Section.

Very easy to contact paralegal at any time. Not easy to talk directly to the attorney. I moved out of the area so a different law firm ended up handling my case, but as far as I went with this firm, they were fairly easy to work with.

Im not really sure yet. My case is still on going. I have spoken more with social security than I have with the law firm.

They were awesome. They came to me and ask me questions, got all the information they needed and left. They called me if they needed something or if I had questions I called them. Great to work with.

This law firm is very inefficient. The lawyer, Joseph P. Tunstall, III did not respond timely to my repeated phone calls and emails, if he responded at all. I have had to assertively track this lawyer down to get sketchy and unverifiable case updates. I do not recommend this law firm.

Susan O'Malley won my case and her advice was great. Working with her was very easy, and her assistant, Terri Baker, stayed on top of things, made sure that I submitted everything I was supposed to and let me know whenever there was a development. I highly recommend O'Malley Tunstall.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
