Cleveland Criminal Defense Lawyer

Overview

Christopher Thomarios has successfully represented clients in criminal defense and civil rights issues in federal and in state courts all over Northeast Ohio, in cases ranging from the most serious drug and violence charges to OVI/DUIs, juvenile cases, and minor driving infractions.

Christopher is admitted to practice law in Ohio and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Christopher also provides excellent representation for his clients in contract negotiation and drafting as well as a variety of civil matters stemming from contractual disputes, personal injury, collections, and drafting of contracts for the sale of goods, to name just a few.

Christopher has built a solid reputation with clients dealing with difficult personal issues and momentous life decisions by utilizing a not-so-novel method: truly listening to fully understand their needs and deepest concerns. At no time is this perhaps more important than when creating Wills, Living Will Declarations, and Durable Healthcare Powers of Attorney. Christopher's clients often rely upon his attentiveness and experience in these areas when creating or updating these crucial documents.

Christopher graduated from Denison University with a B.A. in Political Science. During his time at Denison, he interned in the Washington, D.C. office of United States Senator Richard G. Lugar (IN) and founded the Denison Chapter of Students for a Free Tibet. Christopher received his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University, where he was a member of the Jessup Moot Court team. During both college and law school, Christopher spent time in Geneva, Switzerland and London, England studying foreign affairs and international human rights.

Since 2007, he has operated as a sole practitioner to provide his clients with the individual attention that you simply cannot receive at larger firms. Christopher is a member of the Cuyahoga Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and remains passionate about human rights, which is reflected every day in his devotion to his clients.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
