Overview

Leveraging a Lifetime of Legal Practice to Stand Up for Injured Workers

Karen Talty is an Associate Attorney at NRS Injury Law, where she focuses on workers’ compensation law. Drawing on a multi-decade legal career that has included roles in both plaintiff and defendant representation, Karen’s lifetime of legal practice, her ability to understand the other side’s legal strategy, her dedication to justice, and her relentless advocacy for Ohio workers all come together to make her a valued member of the NRS Injury Law team.

A Lifetime of Legal Practice Now Focused on Representing Injured Workers

“Since I was in high school I knew I wanted to be an attorney,” said Karen, describing the critical steps that brought her to today. “I always had various jobs growing up, from delivering newspapers to working at summer camps. I was in internships, work programs at school and college, etc. But from the start, I got some great guidance from a school counselor and learned pretty early on that I wanted to go into law, despite no one in my immediate or extended family ever practicing law.”

Karen describes her legal background as one of diligent representation of whomever she was working with at the time, be it a defendant or a plaintiff. “I gravitated towards law because I was motivated by the technical, rules-based nature of legal systems,” Karen said. “As I got older and I got more experience under my belt, I started to see the essential nature of the legal profession, particularly when it came to representing plaintiffs who had been legitimately wronged but who did not have the means or know-how to stand up to big corporations and insurance companies.”

Today, Karen represents injured workers out of the NRS Injury Law Cincinnati and Dayton offices. When the need arises, she travels across the state to meet with injured workers, file briefs, and ensure the firm’s clients are receiving the help they need.

Work/Life Balance

When she’s not representing clients, Karen can be found hiking local trails or running at the park with her ever-energetic husky dog. Karen also enjoys soccer, live music, reading, and quality time with her daughter, mother, brothers, nieces, and nephews. Karen has also recently discovered a passion for pickleball.

Don’t Wait to Seek Legal Help from Karen Talty

“I’ve been practicing law since 1989, and I’ve never experienced the level of support, guidance, and back-up that I receive at NRS Injury Law.” Karen went on to describe how the firm gets results for its clients through proprietary processes and one-of-a-kind attorney support systems. “The way the firm is laid out is exemplary,” Karen said. “Every attorney has a case manager, legal assistant, paralegal, and mentoring partner. This approach ensures we (the attorneys) get the support we need to represent our clients to the best of our abilities. When we have everything we need, our clients get the representation they need, and we have the ever-growing stack of case victories to show for it.”

Karen’s empathy for injured workers, her multi-decade-long career across numerous legal fields, and her commitment to representing “the little guy” all align perfectly with NRS Injury Law’s mission to: “Provide empathetic and patient service to every person who calls the firm, and to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome on behalf of every client by putting collective experience, knowledge, and passion to work every day.” To retain an effective legal team with a proven track record and to speak with Karen and the firm about your case, call 855-468-4878 or fill out a convenient online contact form.

Community Impact

Karen shares the community-centered values that are a critical part of NRS Injury Law. She is a volunteer at the American Cancer Discovery Resale Shop, and she co-chairs the annual fundraiser for the Cincinnati Nature Center. Karen formerly coached youth soccer, and while living in Chicago, she served as a mentor and tutor at foster homes and other essential social programs through organizations such as Catholic Charities and UCAN Chicago.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
