Attorney Information
Overview
Samantha Brush is an Attorney at NRS Injury Law, focusing on workers’ compensation law. Samantha has practiced workers’ compensation law since passing the bar, always seeking to help Ohio workers who have been injured through no fault of their own. Her rich background across multiple legal fields and professional categories adds value to her client representation, and her commitment to giving Ohio workers a voice aligns perfectly with the NRS Injury Law mission and vision.
Born and Raised in a Workers’ Compensation Law Firm
“In 1937, my great-grandfather, Clarence Scott Knisley, was elected as State Treasurer; and in his term, worked closely with the Board of Industrial Commission to shape their policies and procedures,” Samantha said when asked about the life chapters that led to her pursuing a career in workers’ comp law. “He advised my grandfather, Scott M. Knisley, to become a workers’ compensation attorney. My grandfather established Knisley Law Office and years later his four sons joined him at the practice.
Samantha recalled being a young ten-year-old girl assisting in the mailroom at the Knisley Law Office. She spoke about weekends at her grandparents’ house, where she’d watch her grandpa meet with his clients on Sundays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. “I watched grandpa work on weekends to ensure his clients, all of whom were injured workers, were getting the representation they needed to secure fair compensation,” Samantha said. “From a very young age I saw the positive effect my grandpa had on folks within our community, and I decided I wanted to be that person some day.”
Helping the Underdog Get the Justice They Deserve
“CEOs are collecting millions upon millions per year while their employees are terrified of reporting a workplace injury because they’re worried they’ll miss a paycheck as a result, or worse,” Samantha said. “I got into workers’ comp law not just because it’s what I grew up knowing, but because workers are at an inherent disadvantage, and it's our job as attorneys to level the playing field and ensure workers get the justice they deserve. I was raised with an ideology that you make a career out of something that makes you happy, and taking care of people makes me happy. I’ve practiced in numerous professional and legal areas, but because of my upbringing, workers’ compensation law has always felt like home to me.”
To that point, in addition to her lifetime commitment to helping injured workers, Samantha has focused her legal career on dispute resolution, negotiation, mediation, and professional responsibility. She holds a Mediation Certification from Capital University Law School. Samantha has held leadership roles in academia, business, and the legal profession and she has lived abroad. These life-changing decisions and roles gave her opportunities to study how other legal systems worked, giving her a nuanced perspective and a strategic edge back at home.
Work/Life Balance
“Gosh we are busy,” Samantha says with a chuckle when asked what she does when she’s not being an attorney. “Our weekends consist of sports, social gatherings at our home, and community activities throughout Columbus. The whole family is very active outside of work and school. We go skiing together, host parties, and each season of the year at least one or more of our three boys are involved in sports.” Samantha and her family are also members of athletic and social clubs, and they like to travel abroad whenever possible. Samantha also enjoys running and has competed in several half-marathons.
Don’t Wait to Seek Legal Help from Samantha Brush
Compassionate, loyal, and someone who listens with intent to her client’s story, Samantha believes that successful workers’ compensation cases are built on empathy and a desire to learn about and advocate for “the person sitting right in front of you.” Quoting Samantha, “We as attorneys will represent thousands of injured workers in our careers. But each case is unique. It’s someone who has seen their entire life change overnight due to a workplace injury. Each case deserves to be treated like it’s the first and last case an attorney will ever have, one where failure is not an option.”
Samantha’s lifetime commitment to Ohio workers who have been injured in the line of work aligns perfectly with NRS Injury Law’s mission to: “Provide empathetic and patient service to every person who calls the firm, and to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome on behalf of every client by putting collective experience, knowledge, and passion to work every day.” To retain an effective legal team with a proven track record and to speak with Samantha and the firm about your case, call 855-468-4878 or fill out a convenient online contact form.
Community Impact
Samantha is involved with Ohio Women Against Domestic Violence, an organization centered around helping women break free from abusive situations at home and in shelters. Samantha was also granted the title of Guardian Ad Litem (a neutral party who advocates for a child's best interests in legal cases) by the Supreme Court of Ohio in 2018. She is also an active parent in youth sports teams.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
