Combining Attorney-Client Teamwork and Legal Experience to Craft Winning Cases
Terry Jennrich is an Attorney at NRS Injury Law, focusing on workers’ compensation law. Drawing on a multi-decade career representing injured clients since 1986, Terry leverages a wealth of knowledge to help his clients secure the compensation they deserve. His experience arguing cases in Municipal Court, Common Pleas Court, the Court of Appeals, the Industrial Commission, and in federal court positions Terry as one of the most knowledgeable attorneys in Ohio.
A Background Based in Service to Working Ohioans
“When I took my first job at the local grocery store in Medina back in the 1970s, I had no idea I would one day dedicate my life to the law and to helping working people,” Terry said when asked to describe how he found his way to a career as an attorney. After the grocery store, Terry put time in on factory floors and auto dealerships in Northeast Ohio. Terry worked through high school, then received the Medina Rotary Club Scholarship and used it to attend the University of Akron, where he majored in history and political science.
“But as you can imagine, there aren’t many places that hire history buffs,” Terry said. “So I took the LSAT and went to law school.” Terry continued to hold jobs in both the legal field and in computers, serendipitously combining the two skill sets right after he passed the bar by using his computer skills to secure an IT role at a law firm during a period when virtually no firms were hiring recently barred attorneys.
“That was a pretty funny time,” Terry reflected with a chuckle. “The only firms that were hiring wanted experienced attorneys. I’d just passed the bar, so I wasn’t ‘experienced’ yet. But I could fix computers, so a firm hired me to do their IT. Pretty soon, I convinced them to let me represent their clients. I ended up being with that firm for 28 years.”
Helping Ohio Workers Who Cannot Help Themselves
After joining NRS Injury Law, from 2014 through 2024, Terry argued thousands of administrative hearings at the Industrial Commission on behalf of injured workers. “I argued six to ten hearings per day, three to five days per week, for ten years,” Terry said. “All those hearings revolved around helping injured workers in their workers’ compensation cases.” Presently, Terry primarily works with the intake department, where he serves a vital role: onboarding clients, educating them about the legal process, interviewing them to learn about their injuries, asking the right questions to build a compelling case, and preparing clients for deposition.
Terry’s rich background helps him immensely in this role. He’s worked in probate, divorce, bankruptcy, Social Security disability, workers’ compensation, personal injury, slip and falls, premises liability, auto accidents, and medical malpractice. He’s argued cases at a variety of levels, including the Cleveland Municipal Court, Common Pleas Court, Court of Appeals, the Ohio Supreme Court, and in federal court. No attorney has “seen it all,” but Terry comes close. That experience enables him to interact easily with the client in front of him, administer the onboarding process, bring the client into the fold, and make the client an active member of the legal team.
Work/Life Balance
When he’s not working, Terry is an avid ballroom dancer and practitioner of T’ai Chi-Ch’uan. A dancer since the 1990s, Terry used to compete in pro-am and amateur ballroom dance competitions. These days, he says ballroom dance is just a good way to socialize, relieve stress, and get a good cardio workout.
Don’t Wait to Seek Legal Help from Terry Jennrich
“No matter what your particular ‘legal style’ is as an attorney, when the chips are down, you have to be a ruthless advocate for your client,” Terry said in closing. “A lot of pressure is on the injured worker. The workers’ comp system is immensely confusing. That’s why the initial meetings with the client are so important. You have to know what questions to ask and how to draw out the client’s story. From your first day of interaction with the client to your representation of them at an administrative workers’ comp hearing or jury trial, you have to be their advocate.”
Terry’s advocacy for working people, his teamwork-forward approach, and his willingness to ask the right questions and build the case the right way are all traits that align perfectly with NRS Injury Law’s mission to: “Provide empathetic and patient service to every person who calls the firm, and to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcome on behalf of every client by putting collective experience, knowledge, and passion to work every day.” To retain an effective legal team with a proven track record and to speak with Terry and the firm about your case, call 855.468.4878 or fill out a convenient online contact form.
Community Impact
Terry has served multiple roles in his communities of Medina and Cleveland. He’s always advocated for his home community, and he once ran for Medina City Council. Terry is also the current president of the Cleveland Chapter of the Northeast Ohio Dance Organization, a position he’s held since 2001.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
