Cleveland Workers Comp Attorney
Attorney Jeffrey D. Johnson is a Cleveland, Ohio, workers' compensation lawyer. With almost 10 years of experience, Jeff Johnson continuously develops strong strategies to help injured workers with their workers' comp cases. Some people injured on the job do not understand the complex system of the Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Jeff helps injured workers navigate the system to receive compensation like temporary total (TT), permanent partial impairment awards (PPI) and permanent total disability (PTD). Other benefits or types of compensation include wage loss, non-working wage loss, living maintenance, or vocational rehabilitation. Workers Comp benefits may be paid by either the BWC or the self-insured employer.
Worker's Compensation in Ohio is a very complicated system. The Managed Care Organizations (MCO), Third Party Administrators (TPA), Bureau of Worker's Compensation (BWC) and most Vocational Rehabilitation Company's all represent the interests of the employer. My Story:
"Honesty is the best policy" is Jeff Johnson's motto, whether in a court of law or sitting in the Cleveland Brown's stadium rooting for the Steelers, the Pennsylvania born attorney always remains true to his beliefs. "My father taught me you never get in trouble if you tell the truth," he says. Both Jeff and his brother also learned from their father, an attorney, the value of serving others by choosing the practice of law as a career. But Jeff did not go to law school right out of college, even though "I was always fascinated with the law and politics," he says. "I even did an unpaid internship with Thomas Ridge, who was governor of Pennsylvania while I was a college student."
When Jeff moved to the Cleveland with his bride, Shelley, he worked as a paralegal for Stuart Garson and was given the opportunity to work in Seaman Garson LLC's workers' compensation department. "I appreciated this area of law and realized then it was time to go to law school," says Jeff. "I wanted to do everything I could to become an advocate for injured workers."
Now, as managing attorney for Seaman Garson LLC workers' compensation department, Jeff personally deals with workers' compensation clients. "I enjoy helping people and knowing if we are not there to work for them they would not be able to provide for themselves or their families," he says. "I've become very good at what I do and can quickly identify the issues. That way I can zero in on the problem and then take care of business." To relax from "troubleshooting and putting out fires," Jeff enjoys jogging and coaching his sons' sports teams, especially flag football. "On the playing field there are clear cut rules everyone can follow," he says. "That's not always the case with our tainted American judicial system that often makes it difficult for suffering injured workers to get what is legally due them under Ohio Workers' Compensation laws. But as long as there is a battle waiting to be fought I'm in the game."
