Absolutely incompetent, terrible communications, sent me email for another client, made me miss work for a hearing I wasn't allowed to attend in the first place. She never fought for me, she gave in on everything. Failed to do basic, common practice divorce procedures that ended up costing me tens of thousands of dollars. A fool represents themselves in court? No, a fool hires Lynn Schwartz for representation.

I had a good experience with this attorney . I did not have any issues during the process. Everything was performed well for me.

I found Ms. Schwartz practices to be built on unethical, unprofessional, incompetent, and poor performance practices. She was often completely unresponsive for weeks at a time (even doing trial prep). Her terrible time management skills had a HUGE negative impact on my case. (ie - failure to file motion to compel discovery thereby allowing 2 years for discovery -- intentional delay). Ms. Schwartz failed to represent her client within expected reasonable assertion, with detrimental impact on the case. Her actions supported representation of opposing counsel and magistrate rather than her actual client. To sum it up -- she is unresponsive, not committed to work, an under performer with terrible communication skills and sub optimal knowledge base of family law and unethical practices.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
