He navigated a very stressful legal situation for me with ease, precision, and professionalism. Mr. Hark kept me informed and explained all of my legal complexities clearly. He advocated strongly for me every step of the way. Thanks to his dedication and resolve I achieved a positive outcome and got my massage license instated. This client had an issue with one license that precluded her from switching careers and getting a second license. Its called an application case. I helped her supplement her new Pennsylvania license application and then had to fight with the new Pennsylvania Board counsel to make sure the Board complied with the agreement offered and accepted by the prior Board counsel. Montso is from New Jersey and she was applying for a Pennsylvania license. I was fully aware of her issues and how to navigate her case towards licensure without a hearing and without the delays of waiting for a formal board decision -- that could have taken a year. Montso was patient, understanding, and helpful while I went toe-to-toe with the new, inexperienced Board counsel and her supervisor -- to force them to give Montso her new license after we did what the old Board counsel offered. This case was an example of long-term legal experience in this field to know, understand, and be able to legally push the Board to give this client her new license to which she was eligible, entitled, and worthy. Persistence, experience, and knowing exactly how to represent this client in a hard case is how this client got her new Pennsylvania license.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
