Overview
Andrea earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2005 from Syracuse University College of Law, where she was on the Dean's List every year and awarded the C.A.L.I. Award for highest grade in Federal Criminal Law. She held the position of Form and Accuracy Editor of the Syracuse Law and Technology Journal. She is admitted to practice before the courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Andrea obtained her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in political science and studio art from the University of Vermont in 1996 and she obtained her Graduate Certificate in women's studies from the University of South Carolina in 1997.
Prior to forming Amicangelo & Theisen, LLC, Andrea was a partner at an established firm in Erie, Pennsylvania where she focused primarily on family and immigration law. Additionally, she has experience in civil litigation and bankruptcy in both private practice and the low-income community.
Andrea taught Business Law I at Mercyhurst University as a member of the Adjunct Faculty. Additionally, she volunteered as an advocate at the International Institute of Erie/USCRI as an English as a second language tutor with new immigrants. This experience gave her the inspiration to work as an immigration attorney. Additionally, Andrea is on the Board of Directors of the Erie Animal Network and the Steering Committee of the Erie Junior Philharmonic. Andrea believes in a well-rounded approach to addressing complex immigration law issues and considers each individual's specific needs.
Additionally, Andrea is a volunteer with Therapy Dogs United with her dog Coco. as a client, you may meet Coco, a Great Pyrenees rescue, who has been extensively trained as a therapy dog by Andrea, in the office. If you are comfortable with dogs and Coco is present, please feel free to ask for her to sit with you at your appointment with Andrea.
