Wexford Family Law Lawyer
Overview
I joined the Schaffranek & Foster in 2022 after spending several years practicing family law in the Pittsburgh area as well as surrounding counties in Western Pennsylvania. My practice includes divorce, marital property distribution, child and support, child custody matters, as well as adoption cases, and cases concerning Protection from Abuse Petitions. My experience in various family law matters includes assisting people in a variety of situations, from helping negotiate settlements in uncontested matters, as well as representing clients in complex and contested matters and assisting them through trial.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies from Michigan State University in 2011, and my Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2014. While in Law School, I began my focus on family law, participating in the University of Pittsburgh School of Law's Family Law Clinic, as well as completing a judicial clerkship in the Family Division of the Allegheny Court of Common Pleas. I am an active member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and have served as a Council Member for the Family Law Section. I am rated by SuperLawyers and was recognized as a Rising Star in Pennsylvania in 2020-2021.
My background in Family Studies and experiences in family law have enabled me to be a zealous advocate while assisting men and women navigate what can be difficult and confusing circumstances. My focus is to ensure that each of my clients understand the options in his or her case, considering the potential financial and emotional impacts of each choice, and to aid people in making decisions to work towards achieving the best outcome for their future and their families' future.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
