Hired Law firm 2018-2019I would say that Mr. McGlade is a very nice man... and that is about the only good thing I have to say. My fiancée talked me into using him as he was a 'family friend'. I was in a car accident and they were struggling getting my records... I got them for the paralegal. They were struggling to get the exact number that my insurance paid... I got that for them. At one point I was in a very rough spot financially after getting so far behind from missing work and I wanted to get an advance on my loan. He did not cooperate with the lending agency in order for me to get an advance. He settled my case on a Friday and knew that I was on the verge of being evicted and said that I would have CASH IN HAND the next week. I convinced my landlord to give me an extension until the following Friday just to be safe. My check arrived on Friday and it has to sit in their trust fund for 3 days before I can get the funds. I called in multiple times for Dave over the last year and his secretary said she would have him call me and he never did. I would email and it would be ignored. I would call and leave messages on his voicemail and I still would not get a call back. I think that his assistant has terrible follow through and does the minimum she has to do to keep a job. I will supposedly get my check next week but it is less that I was told it was going to be. He said he was taking 3% and I thought he was doing that because my fiancé was a family friend. Turns out he took 1/3 which is normal but I could have gone to anyone for that rate and got the job done sooner, with less headache, and I wouldn't have had to do the research work on my own case. I would not recommend this firm to anyone. I was a paralegal for 10 years which may be why I am so "picky" since I know how things should be done but he took a significant amount of my settlement and didn't do much at all. Lesson learnt. Next time, I will settle my own case should it happen again.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
