Has too many cases and not enough help. Has no paralegal and can't even keep up with what case he is dealing with once on court. Is very negligent with your case. Stay away from this crook because he will take all of your money and leave you with nothing to show for it.

Stay as far away as you possibly can, especially if you are having to file bankruptcy. This attorney and his staff are totally incapable in regards to making sure the plan is correct. Because my husband and I found out the hard way when we had to go to the meeting of creditors and this attorney, Robert Sobel had a legal pad of handwritten notes that were missing from our filing, worst part about this is the fact that all of the information that the trustee was telling Mr. Sobel were documents that had previously been provided into the portal that they use. Worst part in all of this is that we paid a retainer fee of $2000.00 and no work was completed on their end so now we have taken legal matters to the state bar of Texas. FUNNIEST PART IS THE FACT THIS THIS FLY BY NIGHT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE SENT MY HUSBAND AND I AN INVOICE STATING THAT WE OWED THEM, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO A FREE CONSULTATION WHICH THESE MONKEYS ARE TRYING TO MAKE US PAY!!!!!!!! SO BEWARE, IF YOU WANT TO BE ROBBED AND NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO SHOW THEN THIS IS YOUR PERSON. BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REPUTABLE ATTORNEY TO REPRESENT YOU IN ANY TYPE OF CASE I RECOMMEND RUNNING AS FAST AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!

I hired this attorney to file a simple enforcement of possession. Me. Sobel quoted me a price. He said that the fee was higher because he would seek attorney fees in the motion. I paid the cost, we went to court, we won the case and the offender was required to pay 1000 in attorney fees. Mr. Sobel kept that money! When I complained he gave me half, $500. As far as I am concerned, he stole 500 bucks from me!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
