I remember when I was young and did not know how the system worked. This park police was violating my rights and approached me before court trying to talk me into a deal. Steve saw me and the pig I guess thought I’d show up without a lawyer. Steve was like you know this guy. I was like no. He was like get the f away from my client. That’s the young Steve I knew. I wish he could have helped me sue the state you see not only did they not let me be treated at a hospital when they forced me to contract Covid 19 sticking me In a paddy wagon 7 of us , instead of lazy sheriff taking us 1 by one and they have the man power. I was there for 4 months for a misdemeanor a non violent one. Meanwhile the owner of a gun store shoots at a cop and does less time I want to sue the county but nobody wants to help

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
