had a lawsuit against a pool company, they built a deck and privacy fence and it Letterly had the doors falling off it in less than 4 days , had everything we needed to go to court , pictures ,statements from contractors on the poor work that was done , replacement costs , but never got there , i told them i wanted to go to court and they just ignored my wishes and just did what they wanted , i won a quarter of what i should of got threw arbitrary that i dint even want to do and he still charged me for it , they charged me 100.00 for a 10 min phone call with him on checking on my case and i didn't even speak to him 99% of the time it was his receptionist. if it wasn't for me doing most the work nothing would of got done and even so i still didn't recoup the 5k he charged me and after all said and done he still gave me a bill of almost 600 dollars, i paid over 30 k for the pool fence and deck plus 5k lawyer fee i got back 18k on a case i should of got all my money back and the lawyers fees .

He told us he could take an earlier court date, so we switched to him. This was the only reason. He never followed through. He mishandled the case completely. Total neglect on his part. I would never recommend him for your counsel.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
