Anthony and Emily were great through the whole process. They always answered phone calls and took the time to explain everything. Anthony was amazing in court and helped me win my injunction case to keep my family safe.

Couldn't thank the team at Absolute Law enough. Anthony Melchiorre explained my case and how he would proceed with it further. From consultation to the quick dismissal of my criminal case, I felt I was in good hands and trusted his recommendations. If my family or friends needed an attorney, I would tell them to call Anthony.

Emily H. and her team established my paternity rights and equal custody. Emily was always available during my time of need, and had my back throughout this stressful situation. In a state notorious for fathers climbing uphill to fight for their kids, I am extremely grateful for what Emily accomplished for me. Thank you so much!

When my son needed an attorney to handle his case, we had no idea where to start. We heard about Absolute Law through a friend. We called and the phone was answered right away. Anthony listened to us and let my son explain everything, he made us feel like a priority! Anthony was able to get the whole case dismissed. We couldn't be happier with our choice of attorney.

I had Emily represent me when filing my dissolution w/o children with property. I was urged to go with them because my step-dad listens to Anthony on the radio. I thought I had a shark but It is almost 7 months later and I have not made any progress. I found that I could have attempted a mediation much earlier, but now I will attend my first next week. I did all financial disclosures and affadavits without any guidance except to just fill in some estimates for expenses. Then she allowed the opposing counsel to bully me with immaterial disclosure requests. My ex-spouse, however, just disputed all of my requests, which were cental to me opposing her alimony petition. I asked to dispute and send, oh, after I had to find all of this on my own. I even mentioned this bothering me and they did not keep me in the loop at all! I spent 7 months suffering mental health issues and they were the least helpful of all. There's much more I could say, but considering I did not hear a peep from my lawyer for over a month and we are now just over a week for mediation, I terminated her. What a pleasant surprise, no communication but they made sure that all withdrawl documents were filed within 3 minutes (no exaggeration) of my email to terminate. And called me to see if dropbox was okay, no attempts to even, I don't know, literally, that was the most expensive bs I have ever been involved in. Save your money, unless you just want a trial. They might help then. 👎

Please safe your time and money, and find yourself a lawyer that cares and is actually going to fight for you, and not just take your money. I hire Emily Hogentogler to help me get custody of my son. It took her 10 months to get a mediation date, which nothing got resolved at that time. 2 months later we had an hearing and right before the hearing, she suggested that we do a volunteer dismissal, and that the timeshare would go back to the way it was before where I would get my son every weekend. Assuming she knew that she was doing, I told her let's do it. Unfortunately I was mistaken, and she did not know what she was doing and the timesharing did not go back to the way it was before. I had to go through another Christmas and Thanksgiving without my son due to Emily's decision to dismiss the case. I never got an explanation or apology from her. After taking out $7500 from my retirement to pay her, the only thing I had to show for it was that child support would come directly out of my check and an $1000 medical bill. I had to take out more money to hire another lawyer, and he was able to do everything Emily couldn't in 3 months. Now I see my son every Sunday and will soon have him overnights again no thanks to Emily.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
