A significant part of Mr. Kerr's legal practice involves representing school districts, special education cooperatives, and in some cases parents and students. As part of the law firm's education practice, Mr. Kerr has also prepared legislation for an Illinois legislative commission as well as rules and regulations and policies for school districts, special education cooperatives, and state agencies. Mr. Kerr has taken on all types of matters, including the following:

Gary E. Kerr has conducted both in-service programs for clients and seminars for the National Business Institute, Inc., Lorman Education Services, and state and national association conferences. Topics have included special education, special needs trusts, ethics, student discipline, family rights, privacy, and search and seizure. As an adjunct faculty member, he has taught Educational Law at Sangamon State University which is now known as the University of Illinois at Springfield.
Mr. Kerr has also served as insurance defense counsel for the National Union Fire Insurance Company (professional liability claims), American International Group for the School Leaders Professional Liability Insurance Program, and Indiana Insurance Company (Liberty Mutual).
After earning his Juris Doctor Degree from Northwestern University, Mr. Kerr began his career in the Office of State Superintendent of Public Instruction as an Administrative Assistant. He subsequently became an Assistant Legal Advisor for the Illinois State Board of Education and Special Counsel to the Illinois Comptroller.
Attorney Kerr also possesses hands-on business experience as the former President of Kerr Products Inc., which was an automotive accessories manufacturing company with sales distribution throughout the United States and Japan.
Attorney Kerr is admitted to practice in state courts in Illinois and the federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, and U.S. District Court in the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois.
