A Lifelong Passion For Protecting The Rights Of Fellow Chicagoans
Since a childhood that saw him attend Chicago public schools from kindergarten through high school graduation, Michael Mazek has been passionate about the legal profession. His path to becoming a lawyer started with managing rental properties for his Polish-immigrant parents
That experience provided him unique insight into the landlord-tenant marketplace in Chicago. He witnessed firsthand the challenges, disadvantages and outright inequalities non-native English speakers and immigrants faced in court.
As a contributor to The John Marshall Fair Housing Legal Clinic, Michael Mazek served as co-counsel for a successful appeal (Godinez v. Lackey-Sullivan). Recognized as a landmark in housing discrimination cases, the decision clarified Section 8 housing vouchers as sources of income for purposes of the City of Chicago Fair Housing Ordinance.
The founder of our Illinois-based law firm graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2000. While in college, he received the prestigious Edward Moskal Journalism Scholarship. Four years later, he received his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School where he was also a member of The Journal of Computer and Information Law.
In addition to his practice of the law, Michael Mazek has given presentations for peer attorneys and real estate offices. He also regularly contributes to The Norton Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law.
