Boston Insurance Defense Law Firm
Overview
Tentindo, Kendall, Canniff & Keefe LLP (TKCK) concentrates in the representation of insurers, businesses, and employers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Founded in 2000 by four partners from Peabody & Arnold in Boston, the firm has grown to become one of the largest firms handling workers’ compensation, employment law, and insurance defense litigation. With 23 full-time attorneys, TKCK enjoys a stellar reputation and our clients include many of America’s “Fortune 500” companies. We focus on specific client needs with the individualized attention of a small firm environment.
Our attorneys and support staff have a broad range of skills and experience. Our managing partner is an Adjunct Professor at New England Law | Boston. Many of our Attorneys regularly conduct seminars for a national business education and training organization. TKCK regularly provides panelists for workshops conducted by the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education foundation in Boston, and others serve as mediators and arbitrators in alternative dispute resolution forums. Two of our staff members are former Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) Administrative Judges; one is former General Counsel and another former Assistant General Counsel of the DIA. Several of our staff members also have prior practical experience as claims managers and adjusters with insurers, including backgrounds in private businesses and government entities.
Our depth and breadth of experience enables us to:
(1) Research and analyze the law and any issues presented or potential issues and provide a detailed litigation report;
(2) Analyze and summarize complicated medical reports, insurance and legal documents or statements and incorporate them into a detailed oral or written legal argument;
(3) Appear in court, arbitrations, or administrative tribunals on behalf of clients to present a well-reasoned argument based on their experience, analysis of the case and case law, and discussions with the client;
(4) Finally, to negotiate with the parties involved in the case to resolve legal disputes including, if appropriate, settlement of the matter.
The attorneys at TKCK report to a partner of the firm assigned to oversee the particular case for the best possible result. The partner is responsible for supervising the attorney and coordinating the defense of the case including overseeing its budget.
The Managing Partner at TKCK is responsible for supervising, assignment and coordination of the various legal teams and practice groups. He is responsible for the continuing professional development of the attorneys at TKCK and for updating the firm’s clients on recent developments in their particular area of concern. He is available to discuss any issue, case or hypothetical fact pattern with the firm’s clients at any time. All of TKCK’s attorneys are available via email, voicemail, or mobile/office telephone at any time. This specialized and personalized service sets TKCK apart from other firms.
In addition, we frequently offer seminars, training sessions and strategic advice to clients. Our new office space is conveniently located at 510 Rutherford Avenue in historic Charlestown, MA, and we can offer complimentary use of our meeting facilities to our clients, with plenty of free parking and quick and convenient access to downtown Boston and Logan International Airport. Our informative website provides timely information about significant developments in the law affecting our clients, including links to important information and resources for our clients at www.tkcklaw.com.
We appreciate our clients and the team approach we have built with them as we deal with their litigation head on, and we hope you are a member of that team.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
