This attorney fired me. I sent in my intake form without providing my social security and DOB through a paper PDF scanned and emailed. He said I did not complete the form so he fired me. I was very sad and thought this was strange. I guess he didnt think my case would make him any money.

The person writing this review was never a client of the Turner Law Firm. After spending significant time speaking with her about the legal matter at issue, the firm requested that she provide certain information. Unfortunately, this person failed to respond until approximately 1 month later, when she again needed help. At that time, she only submitted a portion of the requested information. Therefore, this individual was informed that the firm could not represent her because of her failure to provide the required information. Competent representation may only be provided when one renders all the information necessary to assist him or her. The firm cannot and will not provide legal assistance where the person it is assisting refuses to honor requests for the information that would be vital for the firm to deliver quality and timely legal representation.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
