In 2003, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for service aboard USS Boxer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Soon afterward, Ashton returned to New Orleans, and began studying for his LSAT.
In 2008, he received his Juris Doctorate Degree from The University of Tulsa College of Law, and moved back to El Reno to begin practicing law with The Handley Law Center.
Ashton has been active in the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the ABA since he began law school, and for the last five years has been appointed to national leadership roles on TIPS' Outreach to Law Student Task Force.
Serving on the O.L.S. Task Force has given Ashton the opportunity to attend seminars all over the Country, and connect with other young lawyers from around the world; thus, continuing The Handley Law Center's tradition of being a local law firm with a nationwide impact.
While Ashton has handled cases as varied as Contractual disputes and Business Litigation, to Estate Planning and Family Law, the majority of his practice has been in the areas of DUI law and criminal defense. In the short time he has been with the firm he already has more actual courtroom experience then many of his law school peers. Expanding on and using that experience to help improve the lives of his clients, remains Ashton's primary focus.
